WD AV-GP 2TB 3.5" Surveillance Hard Drive (SATA 6Gb/s, 64MB Cache)

Product Overview

The WD20EURX 2TB 3.5" Surveillance Hard Drive is an audio/video-grade internal mechanical drive manufactured by Western Digital under the WD AV-GP (Green Power) series and distributed through the GVS Security storage catalog. Engineered specifically for continuous 24/7 audio and video recording environments, DVR/NVR surveillance recorders, media servers, and budget-conscious CCTV installations, this drive delivers cool, quiet, and power-efficient operation for multi-channel video capture. (Pull / System Pull condition: professionally tested, wiped, and recertified for secondary deployment).

Built with SilkStream technology, the WD20EURX is optimized for smooth, continuous digital video playback and recording across up to 16 simultaneous standard-definition video streams. Operating at an energy-efficient 5400 RPM class (IntelliPower) with a 64MB DDR cache and a SATA 6.0 Gb/s (SATA3) interface, it minimizes heat output and acoustic noise while maintaining continuous streaming integrity. It is ideal for residential security systems, small commercial installations, and replacement storage in legacy CCTV recorders where low thermal footprint and operating reliability are paramount.

✅ Key Features

• Surveillance Audio/Video Optimization: Tuned for continuous 24/7 read/write cycles in digital video recorders and surveillance appliances.

• SilkStream Technology: Supports smooth, uninterrupted video capture and streaming across up to 16 simultaneous SD streams.

• IntelliPower & Low Power Consumption: Runs at an energy-efficient 5400 RPM class to drastically reduce power draw, operating temperatures, and system vibration.

• 64MB Cache & SATA III (6 Gb/s): Ensures consistent data buffering and fast interface throughput during multi-stream video writing.

• IntelliSeek & IntelliPark: Calculates optimum seek speeds to lower power consumption, noise, and mechanical wear on drive heads.

• Pre-Tested System Pull: Professionally inspected, wiped, and verified to ensure full surface integrity and 100% operational health.

• Whisper-Quiet Acoustic Profile: Engineered to operate virtually silently in desktop DVR setups and quiet home office environments.

🕐 Approximate Recording Capacity at 2TB

• 4-Camera System @ 1080p (H.264, 15fps): ~20–28 days of continuous recording

• 4-Camera System @ 1080p (H.265, 15fps): ~40–56 days of continuous recording

• 8-Camera System @ 1080p (H.265, 15fps): ~20–28 days of continuous recording

• 4-Camera System @ 4MP (2K, H.265, 15fps): ~24–32 days of continuous recording

• 8-Camera System @ 4MP (2K, H.265, 15fps): ~12–16 days of continuous recording

• Motion Detection Mode: Up to 2–3× longer retention compared to continuous streams

Note: Actual recording days depend heavily on video compression standards (H.264 / H.265 / Smart Codecs), individual camera bitrates, framerates, audio recording channels, scene complexity, and motion detection configurations.
