Product Overview

The MS31 Surface-Mount Magnetic Contact is a standard commercial and residential intrusion detection reed switch engineered to monitor the status of doors, windows, gates, and utility cabinets. Designed for wired alarm systems, access control interlocks, and automation monitoring, this sensor consists of two matched components: a hermetically sealed magnetic reed switch module and a permanent actuating magnet. When the door or window is closed and the magnet aligns with the switch, the circuit remains secure; opening the boundary moves the magnet away, releasing the internal contacts and triggering an immediate perimeter intrusion alarm.

Housed in a compact, durable flame-retardant ABS plastic casing, the MS31 features an integrated side-flange mounting profile with pre-drilled screw eyelets and a flat base suitable for double-sided high-tack tape installations. Equipped with an operating sensing gap of 15 mm to 25 mm (0.6" to 1.0"), it accommodates minor frame misalignments, thermal expansion, and mechanical vibration without causing false alarms. With 22 AWG pre-wired flying leads, standard Normally Closed (N.C.) loop configuration, and gold-diffused contacts sealed against dust and moisture, the MS31 delivers reliable, maintenance-free perimeter security across wood, vinyl, aluminum, and composite fixtures.
